Nanotechnology has generated
a flooding behaviour regarding applications in the society nowadays. Due to the
inherent properties at the nanolevel, it is possible the implementations of
applications based on nanoparticles and even more complex, of nanoassembly of
devices from a bottom up strategy with specific functionalities devoted to
perform specialized tasks. Thus, it is important to foresee, which points
nanotechnology is fulfilling for optimizing applications. The Information
Technology (IT) is taking advantage of Nanotechnology to approach real life
applications, hence achieving exploiting the properties that materials present
at the nanoscale.
Reports has been done about the molecular communications or nanoscale
interconnections, in order to permit that nanotechnology based devices
communicate among themselves. Therefore, the Internet of Things (IoT) has
evolved to Internet of NanoThings (IoNT). Specific lines have arisen, such as Molecular communications, Body Area Nano-NETworks
(BANNET) and Förster Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET)-based communications. Nanotechnology in this direction, searches to perform pervasive transmission of
information involved at the decision making stage, in order to define and
execute specific task mediated from connected nanodevices.
Since nanosized objects are not visible, until a certain extent it will
represent a revolution for the nanosensing adapted rooms, in order to perform
real time physical conditions monitoring, with outputs transmitted directly to
the cloud, therefore constituting an invisible interconnected
nanonetwork working synchronizely to keep the people informed about their
health.
An upcoming future will
be the interconnection of every object that will detect and deliver orders
through information transmission/receiver nodes, in order to pave complex
networks and make them feasible to control. This open up the chance for
building the smart cities of tomorrow through completely decentralized decision
making systems connected at the nanoscale. The above described platform has already advanced due to the growth of multi agent systems
offering services to products paths, creating benefits to clients. Nevertheless, several issues on hardware
have to be solved at the nanoscale, especially regarding the information
transmission characteristics, source of energy, protocols of communication,
classification/organization of input data. So from now, at this space it will be highlighted personal key points to fulfill your imagination and chances to create innovative proposals on nanotechnology and the communication sector.
